One of the key differences between Hotjar and Sentry is their primary focus and functionality. Hotjar is designed to provide insights into user behavior, while Sentry is focused on error monitoring and performance tracking. Hotjar offers tools like heatmaps, session recordings, and feedback polls to help you understand how users interact with your website or application. This information is invaluable for improving user experience and optimizing conversion rates. In contrast, Sentry provides real-time error tracking, performance monitoring, and diagnostic reports, enabling developers to quickly identify and fix bugs or performance issues.
Another significant difference is their pricing models. Hotjar’s pricing is generally more accessible, catering to businesses of various sizes, including small startups. It offers a free plan with limited features and paid plans that scale based on the number of sessions and data retention needs. Sentry also offers a free tier but is typically more...

Simplified Backend Alert Configuration for Your Production Environment
My overall experience with Sentry was quite positive. It consistently sent production alerts whenever there was an exception or an outage on the backend server. I found that Sentry could be easily integrated with a platform to generate email alerts for any issues on the production backend server. Whether it was a server exception or an outage, Sentry would send an alert to my email. Once I logged into the dashboard, I could easily see the stack trace for the error that occurred on the server, along with the frequency of the error. Sentry integration is available for different programming languages. However, setting it up with the backend server for the first time was a bit time-consuming, and I encountered some issues integrating the HTTPS Sentry link with Node.js. Despite these minor issues, I found Sentry to be a great tool that helps maintain the production environment availability 24/7.

Exploring Sentry: A Must-Try for Error and Performance Monitoring
My experience with Sentry has been largely positive. I've utilized it in numerous apps and consider it a crucial tool for error and performance monitoring. It's simple to implement in projects like Flutter, Node.js, and Strapi. I value the ability to view related data, such as issues or performance problems, in one location. Detailed information for each issue simplifies bug identification. Additional features like crash-free sessions and releases are extremely beneficial. The documentation is easy to locate and well-structured. However, effective use of Sentry does require some knowledge of error reporting. I also believe they could improve by offering tutorial videos or detailed blogs. The team plan is rather pricey at $26 per month, and there are no benefits for students or startups. I transitioned to Sentry because it integrates easily with Strapi, while Firebase Crashlytics necessitates additional configuration.
