Stripe and Square are both popular payment processing solutions for businesses, but they have distinct differences that cater to specific needs.
One significant difference lies in their core offerings. Stripe primarily focuses on online payment processing and provides a robust set of tools for e-commerce businesses. It excels in handling subscription billing, customizable checkout experiences, and fraud prevention measures. Stripe is highly developer-friendly and offers extensive APIs for customization, making it a preferred choice for tech-savvy businesses.
In contrast, Square offers a more comprehensive suite of services, including in-person point-of-sale (POS) solutions in addition to online payments. Square's hardware options, like card readers and terminals, make it an ideal choice for brick-and-mortar businesses, food establishments, and service providers looking for seamless in-store payment processing. Square also provides tools for inventory management, employee management,...

The most notable difference lies in their core functionalities and target audiences. Shopify is designed to support businesses of all sizes, from small startups to large enterprises, and its flexibility makes it suitable for various types of products and business models.
On the other hand, Square started as a payment processing solution and has evolved into a more comprehensive platform with e-commerce capabilities....

Square is Outstanding…
Square has been outstanding in fulfilling all our business requirements, offering exceptional customer service, providing loans that cover our overhead costs, and occasionally offering fantastic promotions that offset many fees, which are reasonable given the support they provide us.

Superb Selling Solution
I consider Square to be an outstanding and reliable product. I have been utilizing Square Payroll for over 7 years, after testing several other services such as Quickbooks, Paychex, and ADP. In my view, nothing surpasses Square in terms of cost and quality. I employ Square for our Point of Sale, scheduling employees, and payroll. It's a superb all-in-one product for a small business. I've experimented with many other products, but I haven't found anything about Square that I dislike or feel it's missing. I selected Square Payroll because it outperforms all competitors in terms of price, ease of use, and integration. Initially, cost was a significant factor for me, but now I value how all my software is bundled together and compatible. I dislike having to manage multiple systems for similar parts of the business as it adds unnecessary complexity.

Effortless POS Experience with Square Point of Sale
I'm considering switching to a new POS system and processor due to an issue that negatively affected my small business in mid-January 2019. While Square's software is user-friendly, they leave you high and dry if you cancel your subscription. I had to restructure my business and change entities, which resulted in the cancellation of my Square subscription. I got a new EIN for my LLC during this process. However, Square refused to provide W2's for my employees for the 2017 tax year under the Sole Prop EIN I used while doing business with them. Despite numerous emails, I've been told that Square won't be completing W2's for my business since I cancelled my service. Dealing with Square's customer service is extremely difficult. If you run into any problems, you're basically on your own to search the internet or browse forum discussions for solutions.

New to Square, they took my money
If I could rate them negatively, I would. As a new seller with Square, I went through the entire verification process smoothly. However, after selling my first item, my account was put under review for identity verification. Despite providing a picture of myself and my government ID, they deactivated my account. I reached out to customer support, but they were unhelpful, only telling me to respond to a no-reply email from the review team. It's been a week and I still can't access the money from my sale, which is completely unacceptable. I've had no further contact from them and no money has been transferred. Every time I check online, it says 'instant transfer is not available' and the transfer date is always the current day. The next day, the same thing happens. I'm still waiting for them to release my money. This feels like theft.
