Security Solution for a Niche, Yet Not All-Inclusive
I consider Duo Security a robust SaaS product that effectively addresses the specific infrastructure need for 2-factor authentication, especially for SSH management. It's quick to implement for SSH 2-factor authentication requirements. However, I find enrolling users with Duo challenging, resulting in a significantly higher administrative overhead compared to other options. I've also experienced more delays in Duo's push-based notification systems, which can cause issues for users authenticating, depending on their network. I chose Duo Security because implementing G Suite SAML login was more challenging in certain situations than simply purchasing Duo. In the future, I plan to transition to a BeyondCorp style model where each specific application can use SAML and not rely on Duo.

Duo Security Failure: A Potential Business Shutdown Risk
I was attempting to resolve authentication issues and am thinking about switching to a different MFA solution as soon as possible. My company transitioned Managed Service Providers and we utilized DUO. However, when we made the switch, DUO authentication ceased working for several users. Despite numerous attempts, neither we nor our MSP could get in touch with DUO support. I managed to connect with someone who seemed to be distracted by a YouTube video and then abruptly ended the call. This had a significant negative impact on our business and I was taken aback by the lack of assistance for such a crucial business feature. It appears that when support is required, one can spend hours on hold without receiving any help. When someone does answer the call, they simply put the phone down and don't actually respond. Based on this experience, I wouldn't choose DUO over any other product.
