As a digital marketing agency, we use Semrush on a daily basis. Despite its high cost, it's worth it for keyword research and competitor analysis. We've noticed that the projected traffic stats can vary greatly from Google Search Console, but this can be balanced by linking the two. We opted for Semrush due to its extensive range of features. We previously used Hike, which was decent, but Semrush provides a broader array of tools and customizable features. The vendor responded to our review, acknowledging that their data is an estimate and won't directly align with Google tools. They also praised us for integrating Semrush with GSC.

SEMRush: The Ultimate Digital Marketing Powerhouse
I use SEMRush for SEO research, competitive analysis, content marketing, and even some PPC. The insights it provides are incredible and have revolutionized our marketing strategies for both our company and our clients. It's an all-around fantastic tool. My favorite feature is the content marketing toolset, which includes topic research, keyword research, a writing assistant, and much more. The SEO tools are also impressive, offering site audits, keyword research, gap analyses, backlink analytics, and keyword tracking. I can set up projects, receive notifications, report to clients, and more. However, I'm not a fan of SEMRush's traffic predictions, which I find misleading and inaccurate for smaller businesses. I also wish I could access the API on the Guru plan, not just the business one. I chose SEMRush for its comprehensive suite of tools, which I believe has saved us money compared to our previous tool, Moz. We switched because Moz's link database was quite small at the time.

Unfriendly to Users, Limited Functionality
I appreciate the excellent features of SEMrush, such as its data insights on keywords and competitive intelligence. I find it easy to crawl websites with the SEMrush search crawler and perform site audits as needed. SEMrush offers more pages per audit to search compared to some of its competitors, which is a plus. The on-page SEO checkers and other functionalities make it a good on-page SEO tool. However, I am disappointed with their policies. Despite offering 500 on-page credits a month, content gap analysis, keyword tracking and many more features, I find it hard to use them due to time constraints. Even if I switch from one PC to another, SEMrush disables my account. It's frustrating that they want me to pay extra for every laptop that gets logged in, even though I am the only one using the account. I find this policy unethical and corrupt. I chose SEMrush because it seemed to offer a more comprehensive range of features, but I am disappointed with their policies.

Does all I need, questionable pricing & customer service.
Semrush is an essential tool for my SEO consultant business, providing all the measurements I need on a daily basis. However, I'm not satisfied with the pricing or customer service. The base tool is reasonably priced, but there are additional costs for every small feature, which quickly adds up. As a business owner, I can justify some of these costs, but it's too expensive for most of my small business clients. I'd love to recommend Semrush to these clients to enhance their SEO marketing, but the pricing usually doesn't make sense for them.
