Cons from reviewers
-
Limited user-level experience: While Canto offers a high level of customization for Admin and Collaborator level users, the User-level experience could be expanded further to meet more diverse needs.
-
Lack of real-time editing: The platform does not support real-time edits, similar to platforms like Nuclino. This means that users have to constantly reupload documents when information changes, which can be time-consuming.
-
Weak facial recognition feature: The facial recognition feature, which uses AWS facial recognition tool, is not as reliable as it could be. Some users believe that Google's tool would be more effective.
-
Tedious link expiration management: Paying attention to details like expiring links to photos or albums can get tedious and redundant, which could be improved for a smoother user experience.
-
Clunky interface: Some users find the interface to be less than modern and a bit clunky. They would like more style guides to customize for different needs and brands within their organization.

Benefits of Canto for Graphic Designers
As a graphic designer, I appreciate the preview feature in Canto which allows me to quickly scan through numerous image files without having to open each one individually. The version control feature has been a lifesaver on multiple occasions, allowing us to easily revert back to previous versions of a file when necessary

Canto Has Saved Us Endless Hours
Canto has significantly reduced our search time for assets across various devices, departments, and servers when clients call. Stylish Organization for Multiple Users - Canto's Strength
My overall experience with Canto has been positive. The customer service is prompt and helpful, responding quickly to any issues. The software effectively fulfills its purpose of organizing, tagging, filtering, searching, downloading, and sharing. Other users have also given positive feedback, as long as they can find what they're looking for. However, it's important to note that this product requires regular administration to function optimally. I chose Canto for its many features, including its design, customizability, customer service, large thumbnails, organizational structure, tagging feature, and external portal. It's crucial to have an organized person to maintain this Digital Asset Management (DAM) system for everyone in the company, ensuring the organizational structure makes sense. Ideally, one person should spearhead the overall design, tags, and organization. The software works well for High-Ed, but it's important to pay attention to the details, like expiring links to photos or albums. This can get tedious and redundant.

Easy-to-use DAM swiftly resolving asset management problems
Pros: I find Canto simple to use and appreciate that it works in both a browser and a desktop app. The previews for Adobe native files are particularly helpful when searching for specific assets. Cons: I'm not a fan of the UI - it's not easy to quickly view and pull down assets without going into them. The UX could certainly use some improvements, but there are no major issues that hinder functionality. Overall: I find Canto to be a simple tool that effectively addresses DAM needs.

Intuitive, Secure, and Dynamic: Experience Canto
From the start, I found Canto's platform to be user-friendly, allowing all users to navigate our content dynamically with minimal training. The upload/download process is seamless, and the intuitive tagging and keyword system gives me full control, including the option to customize additional metadata facets as needed. Canto has revolutionized how we store, tag, organize, and share our digital assets, while also securing their future integrity. The customer care has been excellent, and the Canto team is always committed and engaged. The platform's user-friendly interface makes it easy to host, organize, and share all of our digital assets, putting all team members at ease and increasing their use of the platform in their daily work. Canto divides its users into three levels: Admin, Collaborator, and User. The platform is highly customizable for Admin and Collaborator level users, meeting most of our DAM needs. However, I feel the User-level experience could be expanded further.

Experiencing Canto's Unique Approach to User Privacy and Consent
I recently had the opportunity to visit Canto, a software known for its image tag editors. Right off the bat, I was greeted with a Cookie Acceptance dialogue box, which I found to be a testament to their commitment to transparency and user privacy. It's refreshing to see a company that takes data privacy seriously, even before I could explore their site or read their Privacy Policy. The dialogue box was so persistent that it even prevented me from scrolling through the policy, which I found to be a unique approach to ensuring user consent. It's clear that they want users to fully understand and agree to their terms before proceeding, which is commendable. While they didn't offer a way to set cookie preferences, I took it as a sign of their robust data tracking, usage, and protection policies. It's intriguing to think about how they might be using my data to enhance their services or even create new ones.I was eager to share my thoughts about this unique approach in their contact form, but it turns out, I needed to agree to the policy first. This just further emphasized their commitment to user consent and data privacy. I'm looking forward to seeing how they resolve this and will definitely update my review once they do.
