Lack of search and replace function in multiple test cases: TestRail does not allow users to search and replace words in multiple test cases at once, making it difficult to re-use existing test cases with minor changes
-
Inability to edit test results: Although administrators can now modify test results, any test modifications must still take place, limiting flexibility for users
-
Limited access to JIRA plugin: To view test cases linked from TestRail in JIRA, a TestRail account is required, limiting access for teams where not everyone has a TestRail account
-
Frequent bugs and data loss: Users have reported frequent bugs and instances of test data and test runs vanishing or becoming unreachable, causing significant disruption to workflow
-
Lack of versioning for test scenarios: TestRail does not support versioning for test scenarios, meaning users cannot see previous changes or have different versions of them.

Who is Testrail best for according to our reviewers?
Global Teams: These users find TestRail excellent for managing and creating test cases, especially for tracking and maintaining test cases more efficiently than Excel. They appreciate the ability to create new projects, custom fields, test runs, and generate reports. However, they find the JIRA plugin less useful as it requires a TestRail account to view linked test cases
QA Engineers: These users find TestRail extremely helpful, especially with its integration with JIRA. They appreciate the easy management of test-suites, test-cases, and test-runs, and the ability to define milestones. They also value the representation and reporting features, but wish for editable test results
Administrators: These users find TestRail easy to set up, configure, and maintain. They appreciate the readily available online documentation and the prompt vendor support. However, they would like more examples on how to effectively use certain features and the ability to customize certain fields
Software Testers: These users appreciate TestRail's user-friendly interface and clear categorization of test cases, test runs, and milestones. However, they find it challenging to re-use existing test cases due to the lack of a search and replace function for multiple test cases
Daily Users: These users find TestRail extremely easy to use for defining and executing tests both manually and through automation. They appreciate the range of configurations and customizations, but wish for versioning for test scenarios.

Crucial Component of Our Test Framework
TestRail allows me to manage my test cases efficiently with great Jira integration. However, initially, some administrative aspects were a bit cumbersome, especially the unclear distinction between the account administrator and the payment handler.

Affordable, Essential Test Management Tool to Implement from Day One
TestRail has significantly saved us time and money in testing, while maintaining consistency in our process. It has also expedited the onboarding of new employees. It offers a straightforward way to build a QA process. As a web-based software, it's easy to manage and provides a simple user experience that even our QA co-ops can follow for manual testing. It has scaled well with our team. There's not much to dislike about it. It functions as promised, although it doesn't seem to integrate easily with automated testing, which could be a potential future addition.

Effortless to Operate and Maintain, Ideal for Regression Testing
I use TestRail on a daily basis and find it extremely easy to define and execute tests both manually and through automation. The software is user-friendly and provides a range of configurations and customizations. However, it lacks versioning for test scenarios, which means I can't see previous changes or have different versions of them. I chose TestRail for its ease of use and maintenance. I switched to it after my previous software was discontinued. The vendor responded to my feedback in March 2020, expressing gratitude and promising to consider my suggestions.

TestRail: A Smart Investment for Committed Companies!
As a member of a global team, I found TestRail to be an excellent tool for managing and creating test cases. It was straightforward to edit existing test cases and the user interface made it easy to locate any test case I needed. TestRail proved to be a much more efficient method for tracking and maintaining test cases compared to Excel. I found it simple to create new projects, custom fields, test runs, and generate professional-looking reports for my managers. The user interface took some getting used to, but once I mastered the key shortcuts, navigating the application became a breeze. However, I was not particularly fond of the JIRA plugin. To view the test cases linked from TestRail in JIRA, a TestRail account is required. In my company, only the testing team had TestRail accounts, while the rest of R&D did not. Although it was beneficial for me as a tester to see the linked test cases on a JIRA bug, we initially assumed that everyone in the R&D department would have access.

Once Excellent, Now a Disaster: TestRail's Downfall
I used to be a big fan of TestRail before it was sold. It was a reliable, user-friendly tool that simplified and streamlined our workflow. However, after its acquisition, the quality took a significant hit. The team was downsized to just 20 people managing 11,000 customers. The product, intended for QA, isn't properly QA'd before being released. Test data and test runs frequently vanish or become unreachable. Each release is riddled with bugs, and despite being aware of this, they persist in rolling out the release to other customers without addressing high-priority issues first. Our tickets often receive generic responses and bugs are seldom fixed correctly on the first attempt, if at all. We've lost months of work due to a single release and have had instances where we couldn't access our tests for days or weeks. I was the one who persuaded my entire company to use this product, but now only three of us are willing to use it. I regret investing in TestRail and would recommend others to consider alternatives.

Top-tier Tool in the Market!
In my view, TestRail is the top test management system out there! I've regularly used it with students during educational programs and found it incredibly useful. After years in QA and using tools like TestLink, I finally convinced management to switch to TestRail. This was a game changer - it's user-friendly for manual testing, integrates with our automation flow, and syncs perfectly with JIRA, saving us numerous work days. However, I've occasionally run into problems with JIRA integration, especially when using Microsoft Active Directory and having to update the JIRA password monthly.
