Ledgy and Carta are both robust equity management platforms, but they cater to different needs and preferences with distinct differences in their features and functionalities.
One of the key differences between Ledgy and Carta is their target audience and the scalability they offer. Ledgy is particularly tailored to startups and growing companies in Europe, focusing on user-friendly features and ensuring compliance with European regulations. It excels in handling employee participation plans and providing transparent equity management, which is essential for smaller organizations looking to scale without extensive legal overhead.
In contrast, Carta is a more comprehensive solution that targets companies at various growth stages, including those gearing towards public offerings. It offers a broad suite of services including cap table management, 409A valuations, and IPO planning, making it ideal for larger enterprises or those with complex equity structures and multiple stakeholders....
Who is Ledgy best for according to our reviewers?
Startups: Ledgy is suitable for startups due to its ease of setting up an account, importing transactions, creating incentive pools, and granting stock options. The software also offers a comprehensive overview of company data and excellent customer support
Venture Capital Firms: The software provides a great overview of portfolios for venture capital firms, allowing them to quickly view company stake, share type, and investment amount. It also aids in portfolio planning through scenario creation
HR Departments: Ledgy is beneficial for HR departments as it simplifies the process of issuing equity and offers an engaging and motivating equity dashboard for employees. It also provides comprehensive support for migration to an equity management platform
Employees: Employees can use Ledgy to monitor their shares. The tool is user-friendly and visually pleasing, making it easy for employees to navigate and understand their equity
Small Companies: Ledgy is a great system for small companies to manage shares, even offering a free tier for those with less than 25 shareholders. However, the ability to print a share certificate requires an upgrade to a higher tier.

Streamline Your Portfolio Management with Ledgy
The Ledgy software provides a great overview of my portfolio for venture capital firms. It lets me quickly view my company stake, share type, and investment amount. It also helps with portfolio planning through scenario creation. Although entering all the historical data can be tough at first, Ledgy's outstanding customer support is always available to help.

Farewell Spreadsheets, Welcome Ledgy.
I find Ledgy easy to set up and navigate, and it's also straightforward for investors to locate their outstanding positions. However, the absence of a customer support phone line and a 24/7 bot is inconvenient, particularly when working across different time zones and if the team is not based in Europe.

Effortless and Rapid Deployment
I believe Ledgy is an excellent product with numerous features, especially the round modelling which is extremely useful. It was vital for us that all stakeholders could independently log in and view their investments. However, the notification feature is somewhat complicated to comprehend. It would also be advantageous to have an international QES functionality. We transitioned to Ledgy because Excel was no longer practical for us.

Top-notch VSOP Management with Ledgy
The API interface was easily established and we felt supported from the beginning. The tool is user-friendly and visually pleasing. The implementation process was quick and we received outstanding support from Ledgy. Our employees also like using the tool to monitor their shares. So far, we have no complaints and have been pleased since the start. We switched to Ledgy because Shareworks was too complicated and time-consuming to maintain.

Equity Simplified: Ledgy Delivers as Promised
I appreciate many valuable aspects of Ledgy, such as the ease of setting up our account, importing transactions, creating incentive pools, and granting stock options. I particularly enjoy the organized dashboard and the ability to customize our view and export them. The UX/UI of Ledgy is a definite plus. Whenever I have a question, there's always someone available to answer it efficiently and quickly. I also appreciate the scenario modelling feature for investors. However, the PDF export doesn't take into account our customized view, unlike the Excel export. It can be a bit frustrating when a feature I need doesn't exist yet. I switched to Ledgy because it's a more complete tool and as our needs increased, Ledgy was a better fit.

Ledgy: A Game-Changer for Small Companies' Share Management
I am absolutely thrilled with Ledgy, a fantastic system for companies to manage shares. It's incredibly generous that they offer a free tier for those with less than 25 shareholders. I found it to be the perfect solution for a small building management company with 5 shareholders. While it's true that you can't print a share certificate without upgrading to the 25-5 tier and paying €75/month, I see this as a valuable investment. It's exciting to see that there's a growing market for online share registers for small companies. Ledgy is definitely leading the way in this space!

Seamless Journey from Setup to Launch with Ledgy
The Customer Experience Manager assigned to me was excellent, offering direct help with implementation and meeting my requests for regular meetings. The collaboration was customized to my company, not just a standard Ledgy approach. The software is user-friendly and unlike many other tools out there, Ledgy achieves a good balance between compliance and usability. You don't have to be an expert to implement and use this tool. It provides many integrations that make maintenance easier. I would like more flexibility in running custom reports and the addition of filters would be helpful.
